Homework and Classwork for this week

Hello everyone,

This week, the scholars will be working from excerpts from a new textbook. I made copies of the relevant pages, and all scholars have their own copy of the "Ultimate Percents Packet" that they need all week. If they lose the packet, they need to print it out again--here is a link to each page.

The homework schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday: 6-1 Converting between Fractions, Decimals and Percents and 6-2, Estimating with percents.
HW: p. 306 #s 32-35, 41-44, and p. 310 #s 29-32, 37-38

Tuesday: Review 6-2, Thanksgiving Packets returned
HW: Work on corrections for Thanksgiving Packet (Due next Tuesday)

Wednesday: 6-3 Finding Percents of a Number and 6-4, Solving Equations Using Percents
HW: p. 314 #s 27, 29, 35, 39, 45 and 46, and p. 318 #24-32 even

Thursday: 6-5, Percent of Change
HW: p. 326 #s 17-22

Friday: 6-6, Simple Interest
HW: p. 330 #s 14-19 and study for the quiz

Monday: Percents Quiz 2, no homework

To solidify scholars' understanding of percents, this week we will be doing a Black Friday Shopping Spree project. Here is the link to the project packet. Each day scholars have specific questions they need to complete:

Monday in class: Part 1
Monday Homework: Part 2
Tuesday in class: Part 3, begin Part 4
Tuesday Homework: Finish Part 4, do Part 5 #1 and Challenge questions (optional)
Wednesday in Class: Finish Part 5, complete reflection and rubric.

Homework for the rest of the week

My apologies for not posting last night's homework earlier, here is the link for the homework from Wednesday night. Because I didn't post the link, I will accept late homeworks tomorrow for full credit.

Today (Thursday), scholars are taking a quiz and do not have homework. On Friday, we will be reviewing the quiz and making corrections, and the only homework is to work on quiz corrections.

The corrections for this quiz are due next Wednesday instead of next Friday, because we will not have school on Thursday or Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Homework for Thursday, November 12th

We started our new unit on percents today. Scholars need to complete this homework. If they missed a handout from the lesson, they are all here.

As a reminder, test corrections are due on Friday.

The Final Exams are in!

Hi everyone,

Today, the scholars received their final exams from our first unit back. We spent the class today working on problems that were similar to the ones that many of them missed on the exam. Here is the handout, which also contains the guidelines for test corrections.

Their homework is to complete corrections for the test. Scholars usually have one week for test corrections, but in this case the corrections are due on Friday because it is the last day of the quarter. Also, as a reminder, from now on all scholars need to bring their purple math notebook and a glue stick to class every day. This will count as a homework assignment, and arriving unprepared will be treated as a missing homework.

Homework for the week of November 2-6

Hello everyone,

This week, scholars are finishing up their Dream Classroom Design projects. Their homework for Monday is to simply finish the project, which is due on Wednesday, November 4th. All of the information for the project can be found in the previous post.

Scholars have their final exam for this unit on Friday. We will spend class on Wednesday looking at one another's projects and beginning the review of lessons 1.1-1.22. Wednesday's homework: Find three questions you need help with from lessons 1.1-1.22. They can be from homework, classwork, assessments, or any other resources.

Thursday will be spent on reviewing the questions that scholars have identified from lessons 1.1-1.22. Thursday's homework is just to study for the exam! If you are struggling, take a look at the Homework Helper link to the right, which has step by step examples of every type of problem from lessons 1.1-1.22.
